There are two lessons that I have learned that has influenced me more than anything else. I learned them from two great speakers, Jim Rohn and Jack Canfield. The two lessons are:
#1: Take 100% responsibility for your life.
#2: You reap what you sow.
In his book, The Success Principals Jack writes:
One of the most pervasive myths in the American culture today is that we are entitled to a great life- that somehow somewhere, someone (certainly not us) is responsible for filling our lives with continual happiness, exciting career options, nurturing family time, and blissful personal relationships simply because we exist. But the real truth is that there is only one person responsible for the quality of life you live. That person is you.
You are either the key or the lock on to your success.
It amazes me just how different my life has been once I learned these two foundation principles. I learned that where I was at, was 100% my doing. It wasn’t my environment. It wasn’t my circumstances. It wasn’t the economy. IT WAS ME. When I took a step back and looked at the down and dirty truth, I found that I had created who and where I was in life. It was my efforts that determined my future.
Acceptance of what has happened, is the first step in overcoming any misfortune. — William Joyce.
Most of us have the tendency to blame everything but ourselves. “Oh, it’s the economy.” “My boss doesn’t pay me enough.” Or “My kid doesn’t come by enough.” It’s always everyone else’s fault and not our own. We never step back and see the real problem: OURSELVES. The truth is that we determine where we are and where we are going. We choose to live the way we do. There is always something more or extra we could have done. We could have banged on more doors rather than sitting around complaining. We could have worked harder and built a better product. We could have spent more time with our families. We could have dedicated more time to our craft than watching TV. There is always something else we can do to work on our success.
We have to stop blaming everything else and realize that WE alone are responsible for our results. Take responsibility for where you are. Know that you will get out of life what you put in.

Like you, my life started changing when I decided to take charge. I became more conscious of my thoughts, words and actions and how I related to others. My life became less of a drama and more peaceful.
That’s look easy to say it but in the real life thats no clue.I’ve been struggle with my self for over 5 year since I graduated, and I’m totally stuck with my job and dont have social relationship. We can change if we get a source or connections, but sadly I dont have it, and still trying to find. It’s too complicated for someone who doesnt have the connections to move step forward because in modern life now a self-centeredism has infected most of all part of human being. And thats theory you telling, is not available for people like me.Finally, It’s all about the money…Meja said
Hari,
You can determine your future. Humans have one incredible ability over all other creatures on the planet. That is that we can change directions at any point in time. It doesn’t matter where you are, you always have a choice as to where you are going. When I first started my business, I was working as a server at a restaurant. I got into a disagreement with my boss one day and walked out. I had a little over $50 in my pocket (Which I spent it on brochure and incorporation for a business idea I had). I stayed up all night creating a brochure and started setting up appointments with potential clients. I’ll never forget it. I got my first client a few days later. I had no experience. I had no employees, I was a one man show. I was too young. I had no equipment, no office nothing. Didn’t have the education. I had a junk car. I had zero connections. But I did it. I had the most important weapon of all: myself. You can too. If you have the determination and commitment you can accomplish what you set out to. If you commit, the world will make way for you. Nothing can stop the man who is determined.
The blowing winds are but our servants when we hoist a sail.
