It had been pretty cold and windy here in Kentucky, so I decided to build a nice fire tonight and take a little time to refocus and relax. I had been working all day finishing up some projects, so it was nice to finally take a break, even if it was only for a bit! I sat for a little while just enjoying the beauty of the crackling fire and drinking some coffee. I can’t tell you just how nice it was to get away from technology/ people to enjoy these simple pleasures and spend some time reflecting and reading.
It got me thinking about the small things we have the tendency to overlook due to our crazy schedules. We get so busy, that sometimes we forget to stop and take time out to get rejuvenated and refreshed. To spend time doing the things we enjoy most. The television, technology, other people, work, our families and social media all suck us in and demand our attention. We have this noise all around us that wears us down and eventually can lead us into the point of exhaustion.
Sometimes we just need to step back and get disconnected for a bit.
Hyenas cannot bring down a lion in its prime. What they do is run it and taunt it and wear it down to the point of exhaustion. Once they see it cannot defend itself, then they close in. -John Eldridge
You need to clearheaded and ready for anything. If you are exhausted, you can’t do this. You want to always be able to act in your prime. Take some time to recharge yourself. Enjoy those simple pleasures. Disconnect and refocus yourself even if it’s just for a few minutes.
REFLECT. It will only make you stronger.
