If you were driving along and saw this sign what would you think? A pile of manure or gold? It’s all in the eye of the beholder. Are you the kind of person that sees something like this and thinks… huh… I wonder what I could create from that? Most likely you probably think I’m nuts for asking that.
Well… once there was a man who did stop and saw gold in a big pile of manure. He asked around and ended up meeting a contractor that wasn’t going to use this plot of dirt and manure. He negotiated a deal with him for hauling it away for free. The man then turned around and sold it for $25,000! He made a chunk of money off manure that he got for free! Most people would have never taken the time to stop and take a second thought or look at it. He kept his eyes open for opportunity and found it. Are you keeping a watch out for opportunity? Or are you caught up and shutting it out?
The truth is that we see signs like this everyday. Opportunities are all around us. Some are there staring us in the face. Some aren’t so bold. How many opportunities have you passed up because you didn’t take the time to stop and think differently? How many decisions could you have made to truly build something great from an opportunity? Start looking at things from different angles. You never know when an opportunity could lead to something huge for you and your life.
Opportunities? They are all around us… There is power lying latent everywhere waiting for the observant eye to discover it. – Orison Swett Marden
The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work. -Thomas A. Edison

I will never forget the day I started my first business, Urge Marketing. I was working as a server for a restaurant while finishing college. While my guests were happy and during my breaks, I would read business and success books. One day my boss, Dale came up to me and picked up the book I was reading (Inc and Grow Rich… great book about incorporation by the way), and said “Whose book is this?” I told him it was mine. He laughed at me and said, “You’ll never be a business owner, you are a nothing but a server, you idiot. What makes you think that you can run a business?” Due to this and a few other factors, I never went back there to work. That night with nothing but a whopping $100 in my pocket and a dream I started Urge Marketing and have been doing it ever since.
The other day I spoke with a friend who was having a hard time financially. This person, was working himself to death and never seemed to improve his situation. He would work harder and harder only to see his finances get smaller everyday. He was complaining to me how much he hated being poor.
History can be interesting…
